ABOUT

About the Foundation

The Cacapon Resort State Park Foundation was created in 1989 with the mission of improving and expanding areas of Park operation and facilities not covered by State appropriations. It is our hope that visitors from near and far will leave our beautiful Park with a new sense of well-being, an increased appreciation of nature and many happy memories! Our past projects include the Cacapon Mountain Overlook, the Nature Center and its expansion, the Gazebo, large group picnic pavilions, renovations of the Old Inn, a new playground including a cabin playhouse, strategic tree planting, 5K Cross-Country Course, and the repair and restoration of multi-use trails (walking/ hiking/mountain-biking). We sponsor several events such as a Trail Clearing Day in early spring along with fund-raising events each year including a Gala in the Spring, and Homecoming in the fall which is held to honor our CCC roots. We have a wonderful history of accomplished goals…with many more yet to be realized. We hope that you will join us in our next exciting chapter.

Cacapon Resort State Park Lodge

About The Park

Cacapon Resort State Park is a treasure and is located in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, approximately 9 miles south of Berkeley Springs, WV , 27 miles north of Winchester, VA and less than a 2-hour drive from Washington, DC and Baltimore, MD. It was constructed during the Depression by the Civilian Conservation Corps (C.C.C.) and was dedicated on July 1, 1937. It encompasses 6,115 beautiful acres and includes a lodge, restaurant, nature center, cabins, 6-acre lake for non-motorized boating, swimming and fishing, picnic shelters, game courts, multi-use trails, riding stables, wobble clay (trap) shooting, 5K Cross-Country course, playground, and a Robert Trent Jones golf course. Our Park has a place in the very fabric of many families from near and far as it has been the site of countless family vacations from year-to-year as well as for special events including family reunions and weddings. The Park is currently undergoing an extensive top-to-bottom renovation to include updating of the Lodge and the addition of 80 rooms, a conference center and indoor pool as well as the updating of all cabins. The expression ‘the best is yet to be’ has taken on a whole new meaning for this beautiful West Virginia gem.
